Glossary
Anomaly
A geological, geochemical or geophysical feature that differs significantly from the surrounding area and may indicate the presence of mineralization.
Assay
A laboratory analysis used to determine the concentration of metals or minerals within a rock sample.
Bedrock
Solid rock underlying soil, gravel, and other surface materials.
Bulk Sample
A large volume of mineralized material collected for metallurgical testing and evaluation.
Carlin-Type Gold Deposit
A style of gold mineralization characterized by microscopic gold hosted in sedimentary rocks and commonly associated with major fault structures.
Claim
A parcel of land on which a company has acquired the rights to explore for minerals.
Core Drilling
A drilling method that recovers cylindrical rock samples (core) for geological examination and analysis.
Cut-Off Grade
The minimum grade at which mineralized material can be considered for economic extraction.
Deposit
A concentration of minerals that may have economic value.
Exploration
The process of searching for and evaluating mineral deposits through geological mapping, sampling, geophysics, and drilling.
Fault
A fracture in the Earth’s crust along which movement has occurred. Faults often serve as pathways for mineralizing fluids.
Geochemistry
The study of the chemical characteristics of rocks, soils, and sediments to identify potential mineral deposits.
Geophysics
The use of physical measurements, such as magnetic, gravity, or electromagnetic surveys, to investigate subsurface geology.
Grade
The concentration of a valuable metal or mineral within a rock sample, typically expressed as grams per tonne (g/t) or ounces per ton.
Gold Equivalent (AuEq)
A calculation that expresses the combined value of multiple metals as an equivalent gold grade.
Heap Leach
A mineral processing method where crushed ore is stacked and treated with a solution to recover metals such as gold.
Host Rock
The rock formation in which mineralization occurs.
Inferred Mineral Resource
The part of a mineral resource for which quantity and grade are estimated based on limited geological evidence and sampling.
Intrusion
Molten rock that has solidified below the Earth’s surface and may be associated with mineral deposits.
Joint Venture (JV)
A business arrangement where two or more parties share ownership, exploration costs, and potential benefits of a mineral project.
Lithology
The physical characteristics and composition of a rock unit.
Mineral Resource
A concentration of minerals in the Earth’s crust with reasonable prospects for eventual economic extraction.
Mineralization
The natural concentration of valuable minerals within rock.
Net Smelter Return (NSR)
The value received from the sale of metals after deducting transportation, smelting, refining, and other related costs.
Open Pit Mine
A surface mining operation where ore is extracted from a large excavation.
Ore
Rock containing sufficient quantities of valuable minerals to be economically mined and processed.
Outcrop
An exposure of bedrock visible at the Earth’s surface.
Oxidation
A weathering process that alters minerals near the surface and can affect metal recovery characteristics.
Porphyry Deposit
A large, low-grade mineral deposit typically containing copper, gold, molybdenum, or other metals.
Prospect
An area that shows indications of mineralization and warrants further exploration.
Qualified Person (QP)
An individual recognized under NI 43-101 who is responsible for the preparation or supervision of scientific and technical disclosure.
Resource Estimate
An estimate of the quantity and grade of mineral resources within a deposit based on available geological information.
Reverse Circulation (RC) Drilling
A drilling technique that uses compressed air to recover rock chips for sampling and analysis.
Strike Length
The horizontal distance over which a mineralized zone extends along its geological trend.
Target
A specific exploration area identified for additional investigation or drilling.
Tonnes
A metric unit of weight equal to 1,000 kilograms.
Vein
A sheet-like body of minerals deposited within a fracture in rock.
Volcanic Rocks
Rocks formed from lava or volcanic ash that may host or overlie mineralized systems.
